This Glaswegian group have been together just two years and have already made frothing fans of critics back home thanks to two big singles – “Daddy’s Gone” and “Go Square Go!” – songs that swelled with feedback and honeyed melodies. Their sound calls to mind of early (read: pre-Oasis) Creation Records with touches of the Jesus and Mary Chain’s noise assault and much more up-front, emotive vocals. Try the track “Geraldine” and get ready for your new favorite band.

“Charlie Darwin” is both the centerpiece and the leading track off of the Low Anthem’s newest, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin. The group creates sublime, windswept harmonies and put them over minimal folk arrangements. For all of it’s breezy trappings, the song carries an emotional, hymn-like weight.

Famed vocalist Rosario has been creating hits since the early ’90s. The songs featured on her new album, Parte de Mi, celebrate the music of her childhood and her life thus far by embracing the songs of people like Roberto Carlos, Juan Luis Guerra, and one song from her mother, Lola Flores. Here, she delivers Vicentico’s “Algo Contigo” in flamenco-touched, jazz-pop style.

The 88 are a Los Angeles-based band who have been causing a bit of ruckus down in the Southlands thanks to their fist-pumping power pop. Take a listen to the band’s embracing of the British theatrics of bands like Queen, the Kinks, and T.Rex and you’ll know immediately why you should care.

“My Roots Are Showing” is a rip-roaring cut from Canadian country singer Crystal Shawanda. The song is a far cry from the mannered country pop that makes headlines – this cut is a heavy rocker in the vein of Gretchen Wilson with a touch of the Charlie Daniels Band. The song is taken from Shawanda’s debut, Dawn of a New Day.

Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, drummer Charly Alberti helped Soda Stereo become one of the most explosive Argentine bands ever. Ten years after the dissolution of Soda Stereo and Charly has returned (alongside his brother Andres and bassist Ezequiel Dasso) to form a new power trio, Mole. “Aqua Castradora” is a grinding bit of riff-rock that doesn’t let up during its raging three minutes.

This husband-and-wife duo didn’t quite win the crown on Can You Duet, but they instantly won us over with “Cheater, Cheater.” Joey’s magnetic charisma reminds us of Dolly Parton and her Tennessee drawl rises above swampy acoustics to deliver an anthem targeting two-timing husbands. She also fires a few barbs at floozies who get tangled in someone else’s marriage. Watch out.

No amount of post-production magic or amazing samples can provide the sound that Barcelona’s Zulu 9.30 are able to create. They are a full-fledged live band and “Era” is a mixture of boogaloo, salsa, funky reggae, and late night jazz that bubbles over with energy and passion. This enthusiastic group has been recording for the past five years and Huellas is the new album we hope brings them many new additions to their ravenous fan base.

Last night’s buzz has faded and this Brooklyn-based duo is here to narrate the comedown. The subject matter of “Detroit” is dark but the indie-rock tune glitters — befitting of a group calling itself Black Gold. Follow the stripped-down verses to lilting, harmony-driven choruses and hold on for the final verse, with its merry-go-round pianos and crashing cymbals.

This Tennessee-based trio takes the name 33Miles out of deference for the life of Jesus, who is said to have lived just 33 years. Making the most of our time on earth is a thought the runs through this track from the group’s self-titled debut. “One Life to Love” carries a country twang underneath the gospel and classic rock aspirations.
