Novalima were formed in Peru in 2001 with the goal of trying to integrate the vibrant Afro-Peruvian sounds that had been bubbling up in the culture for decades with the raw, tribal beats emanating from the dance clubs. Over the years, they have fine-tuned their multi-hued mix into something that integrates African, Latin, Caribbean, and electronic textures. The booming, mid-tempo groove of “Camote” is taken from their new album Coba Coba. If you like the track, check out the album.
