Stacy Clark – White Lies
|
Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we’ve been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Song of the Week. While the debut from Southern California–based singer/songwriter Stacy Clark was called Apples and Oranges, the title of its follow-up album better describes her overall aesthetic. Connect the Dots is what the Buffalo native does effortlessly with various musical styles, as heard on “White Lies.” Carefree syncopated piano chords, jovial bass lines, and drive-by rhythm guitar riffs immediately get feet tapping, while Clark’s at once cheerful and defiant vocals alternately deliver smirks and smiles.
Lyrics for Stacy Clark’s White Lies
Walking, I want to be any where
But here right now,
Walking, it’s hard to see everything
So clear right now,
You’re telling me white lies,
Baby, I can see it before you say it,
Maybe, if you wrote a song
I’d play and sing about your tale
Do you think I’m a fool?
Shame on you and shame on me twice
For trusting, trusting
I need to get out of this town,
Before it sucks me in
Before I drown,
Stop telling me white lies
Baby, I can see it before you say it,
Maybe, if you wrote a song
I’d play and sing about your tale
Do you think I’m a fool?
Shame on you and shame on me twice
For trusting, trusting
Why can’t you make up your mind?
Your wasting so much,
Your wasting all of my,
Why can’t you make up your mind?
Your wasting so much,
Your wasting all of my time…telling white lies
Baby, I can see it before you say it,
Maybe, if you wrote a song
White lies
Do you think I’m a fool?
Shame on you and shame on me twice
For trusting, trusting
White lies
Baby, I can see it before you say it,
Maybe, if you wrote a song
I’d play and sing about your tale
White lies,
White lies,
White lies
Shame on you and shame on me twice
For trusting, trusting
For trusting you…
