At first glance, American Bang resembles Stillwater, the fictional band in Cameron Crowe’s film Almost Famous: all hair, tight denim, and Southern-rock cock of the walk. But this ain’t Hollywood, and that ain’t iced tea in the whisky bottle. Nashville’s American Bang creates authentic rock ‘n’ roll that draws inspiration from bands like The Who and Black Crowes as well as Muse and Kings of Leon. Produced by Bob Rock, the youth anthem “Wild and Young” sets off the band’s debut; it’s propelled by scuffed walls of guitar and Jaren Johnson’s vocal growl.
