Miguel – All I Want Is You (feat. J. Cole)

Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we’ve been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Miguel may be a newcomer to the R&B scene, but he’s quietly built a reputation as a quality songwriter for Usher, Mary J. Blige, and Musiq. With a jazzy flow, a solid hip-hop foundation, and understated sexiness, “All I Want is You” shows that Miguel’s ready for prime time. J. Cole, another new face heard on the rowdy single “Who Dat,” attaches 16 bars of muscle.

James – Crazy

James – Crazy

In lieu of our regular Discovery Download, we’re presenting a Rediscovery Download – in which we present an artist you may be familiar with and suggest another listen. James predated the Britpop movement by a decade, splitting Mancunian clouds with jangled guitars, wide-open arrangements, and a quirky disposition. “Crazy” catches the world up with the freshly reunited James, again fronted by the enigmatic Tim Booth. In typical James fashion, “Crazy” laughs in the face of conformity, cascading into a whirlwind state of ecstasy and communion. For those who (still) find themselves ridiculous, sit down next to James.

Wait. Think. Fast. – Si Es por Amor

Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we’ve been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Canción de la Semana.
Wait. Think. Fast. is an indie rock band featuring the talents of Argentina-born Jacqueline Santillan, her husband Matthew Beighley, and drummer Thomas King. Their energetic sound references L.A.’s Latino enclaves as much as it recalls the influences of David Bowie and The Smiths. On “Si Es por Amor,” the alto-voiced Santillan sings mostly in Spanish but lapses into English for a divinely melodic chorus.
