The ex-vocalist of Big Dismal, Eric Durrance leaves behind his former band’s big rock leanings for a more countrified air on this track from I Lost It All. Durrance’s voice has a sweet-sounding twang that gels with the barebones acoustic rhythm.

You’ve had your mind blown at the Daft Punk show, you’ve been dancing to Justice for months. Now you’re ready to get a little deeper. French newcomer Danger brings together glitchy pop with hard-hitting power chords and tone-pitched vocals. It’s a synth disco/funk overload and it’s pretty much irresistible. Hear it on the right sound system and it’ll likely change your life (at least for about 4 minutes).

For years, Gabby Villanueva has been a popular TV personality thanks to her participation in the reality show Protagonistas de la Musica. Her charismatic energy has made her a natural for television commercials and now she’s ready to parlay that momentum into a music career. This title track from her debut is a solid uptempo rock tune, with a great acoustic rhythm track and plenty of moody effects on the lead guitar. Villanueva proves her worth with a powerful, impassioned vocal turn.

Producer, singer, and violist Kelley Polar made his first mark when he and some fellow performers from New York’s Julliard School added live strings to the classic first album from Metro Area. This track is from his forthcoming new album, I Need You to Hold On While the Sky is Falling (produced by Metro Area’s Morgan Geist), and is more pop than dance, but maintains that crisp, driving minimalist beat (and viola accents) that have made his sound so identifiable.
Bonus: The iTunes store has the entire album available for two weeks prior to the release date. So check it out if you like this track.

Florida’s We the Kings is a punk-edged pop group that just relased their debut last October. “Check Yes Juliet” is a jaunty power-pop tune with a crunchy veneer and glossy, catchy harmonies.

You may have heard Yael Naims “New Soul” in ads for the new MacBook Air. We’re featuring another track from her self-titled album here. “Far Far” has a lulling, intoxicating rhythm – the instruments working within this frame to create a bit of beauty in which the pieces fall together like clockwork. Above it all, Naim’s sweet and fluttering vocals guide the listener into some sweetly melancholic places.
