Each week we find a track from an artist or band we’ve been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. There’s something about this cozy pop-rock ditty that keeps growing on us. The English quintet’s blend of melodic guitar interplay and pensive-yet-earnest vocals strikes a warming chord. It’s a sympathetic tale about people caught in flux.

Alabama Shakes – Hold On
Each week we find a track from an artist or band we’ve been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Complexity is what makes Alabama Shakes so intriguing. The Athens, Ga.–based Southern rock band has roots in the local punk rock scene but sounds steeped in the old-school traditions of Muscle Shoals. On their rollicking single “Hold On,” Brittany Howard belts lyrics with Joplinesque abandon to Heath Fogg’s Skynardian guitar riffs. If “Hold On” is any indication, patience really is a virtue.
